Blu Ray vs. HD DVD Do we really need more power? The cynics among us can say that it is simply another way of computing and consumer electronics industry to sell something new. While there is an element of truth in this, because not everyone needs more capacity, but the computers, software and application continue to be ever more hungry for information. Many users will welcome an extra storage that can offer both formats as they are at full capacity of a DVD and are starting to need more than one set of disks. The new format will be the equivalent of five and ten times the size of a DVD. Apart from this, are faster broadband speeds to allow more users to download large amounts of data. High-definition television will begin broadcasting throughout Europe in 2006 and will allow consumers the best possible experience in both watching and recording television. In the United States more than seven million digital televisions have been sold and Europe is not far behind. In Europe, it is expected that the transmission in 2006 World Cup in high definition and will be an important factor for many to make their first purchase of a high-definition television digital. Blu-ray Disc products will be launched to cover three main areas of application: 1st The use of desktop applications and home video. 2nd Professional Broadcasting .. 3 Professional Backup of application data. Blu -ray are manufactured from a single disc of the substrate, with the recording layer near the surface of the disc. This would also help reduce the potential distortion, higher precision and shorter production times and costs. In terms of compatibility with previous versions, it is likely that the Blu-ray disc products will play both DVD and CD formats. It is also expected that Blu-ray recorders for PCs and Macs can also bu CDs and DVDs. Sony has recently announced that its next-generation Playstation 3 console will have capacity of Blu-ray. The advantages of the "Urbis" coating means that the disks can be used without a caddy, and are much less likely to be damaged by scratches, UV rays, fingerprints and dust attracted by static. ....
